Coverage and known gaps
How much rebuild evidence a capture holds, and what it couldn't verify.
Every capture reports its coverage and known gaps in the Capture details panel on its result page. Read them before you build: they tell you how much of the work the evidence covers and where your agent will need your help.
Coverage
Coverage is how much rebuild evidence a capture holds. It's completeness, not a quality score. It's reported per dimension:
- Layout
- Typography
- Color & effects
- Assets
- Motion
- Responsive
- Interactions
- Page completeness
Each capture also gets an overall coverage level:
| Coverage | What it means |
|---|---|
| High | Strong evidence for a faithful first build. |
| Medium | A solid first build, with a few gaps to iterate on. |
| Low | Limited evidence. The build leans on screenshots and iteration. |
A dimension can be Low while the capture overall is High. Look at the dimensions that matter most for your page. A motion-heavy page with Low motion coverage needs more of your attention than a static page.
Known gaps
Known gaps are the things Mateo could not verify during the capture. They're listed on purpose, so your agent asks you instead of guessing. They also appear in REBUILD.md under Unknowns & decisions.
Mateo captures evidence, not a guarantee. Your agent closes the last gap with you.
What to do with Low coverage
- Check what's low. Low assets or motion coverage means different work than low layout coverage.
- Try another page. Some sites block automated browsers on certain paths. The homepage or a core product page often captures better.
- Build anyway, with more iteration. A Low capture still holds screenshots and measured values. Expect your agent to lean on the screenshots and plan for an extra round.
- Answer the known gaps. When your agent asks about something Mateo couldn't verify, give it the answer directly.
Design Analysis
The Design Analysis tab in Capture details is a separate, qualitative read of the design: strengths and issues by category. It doesn't change coverage, and there is no numeric score.
